Am I covered if I have a workplace issue that arises and I need legal assistance?
Yes, you are completely assisted no matter the workplace issue, so long as the issue isn't pre-existing, this includes access to our retained lawyers.
Our industrial support team's reliability is second to none. We intially respond within 24 business hours or offer a "slow discount" memebership credit of $25.
We have a few levels of support available, and yes one of them is legally qualified. We keep our services affordable and reliable by ensuring members get the appropriate level of support for their matter type.
Level 1 – Hotline
The very-contactable and friendly Hotline. They can help with the main stuff, updating details, providing documents, sharing details etc.
- Call us on our 24/7 Member Support Hotline – 1300 263 374.
- Send us an email to hotline@redunion.com.au.
- Start a Live Chat during business hours and requesting a human.
- Use the hotline's SMS number (if you've been provided it).
Level 2 – Industrial Team
For matters that require support beyond our Hotline, members submit a member support form.
Appointed industrial officers, with experience on your matter type, will see if they can assist. We retain registered industrial agents (in participating States) to maximise industrial coverage to Public Sector employees.
Many matters, such as bullying, show causes, allegations, complaints, industrial disputes, and grievances are managed at this level.
Level 3 – Laywers
If your matter is beyond the capacity of our industrial teams, a delegate is able to escalate your matter to a laywer.
Red Union has a broad network of lawyers the retain for member matters, some of these law firms are award winning in their field.
It is important to note that lawyers are funded by the Red Union Support Hub on behalf of associations and their members, they are not directly employed by Red Union Support Hub or any of its affiliated associations.
Will I get a laywer?
Not all matter require a lawyer - but if you're eligible for support you will always be given a contactable advocate with experience or training on your particular issue (and access to other experienced staff).
This will be assessed on a case by case basis according to the MSF terms and conditions.
